On October 30th, we'll be thanking our golf tournament sponsors. It looks like we'll net a bit over $5,000. Also on the 30th, our speaker will be District Attorney John Blodgett.

President Steve thanked Cathy for completing our club's District Simplified Grant application and sending it in for review. The club is proposing a "Safe 2-Pedal" day including bike safety information and bike helmets. We should hear within a few weeks if the grant was approved.

Gary talked about the "fireside chat" to beheld at Sugar Cane to talk with new Rotarians about Rotary and the role of the club and their role within the club. More to follow.

Tracy Stanley our guest speaker explained the function of Big Brothers Big Sisters in our community. Tracy encourages everyone to get involved. It is rewarding for both the "little Brother/Sister" as well as the "Big Brother'Sister" She said right now in Peabody there is a need for both but Brothers espically. Tracy said at the monent the organization is matched with about 35 local businesses. If you don't have the time perhaps one of you employees does. The time commitment is a few hours a couple times a month. Grace has more information if you would like to learn more.

What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel Babner. Every nickel helps!!
