Meeting notes

Today's visiting Rotarians: None.

Guests:   None

Today's Breakfast: Same as last week and the week before and the week before and the week before and the week before and the week before and the week before.

Because of the HolyDay, there were only 10 members in attendance.  And President Steve was not among them.  Perhaps he was with the Jewish members atoning for his sins.  Past President Grace Martins ran the brief meeting.  She reminded the scant assemblage that District Governor Tom Elliott will be addressing the club next week.  And an important ceremony will take place as well.   DG Tom will install our three new members:  Steve Padulsky, Martha Holden and Julie Erickson.  Their sponsors will also be part of the ceremony.

Fred deNapoli announced that the GSE Team Leader has been chosen for the month in South Africa.  There are still spots for non-Rotarians between the ages of 20 and 45 to join the entourage.

 Joanne Donovan reported that the Golf Tournament netted a total of $10,000, so the club earned around $5,000.  Our October 30th meeting will be a THANK YOU meeting to all who helped--golfers, sponsors, advertisers, etc.

  Answer (a):  A bootleg still.

Mel Babner reminds everyone to sell the Entertainment Books.  Sales are way down from last year!  He thanked Fred deNapoli  and Chuck Holden for taking 10 and 5 books, respectively. And he thanks Cathy Gravel for selling 10 books!!

*

Reminders:

*

What do you do with your empty bottles and cans?  (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.)  Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel Babner.  Every nickel helps!!  Mel Thanks Dick Berg, Ralph Raynard and Gayle Cavanaugh for their generous contributions.

*

Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.

 *

Happy Dollars:  Sergeant-at-arms Jeff Doherty collected $ ?? .

Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club.  We can use the money!!  But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.

*

50-50 Raffle: The pool was $113.  Neither Jeff Doherty nor Jeff Doherty picked the KING OF CLUBS or the $50 Joker.  (No, that's not an error--Jeff's ticket was picked twice.)

 THE 4-WAY TEST of the things we think, say or do:

1. IS IT THE TRUTH?   2. IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED?   3. WILL IT BUILD GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIP?   4. WILL IT BE BENEFICAL TO ALL CONCERNED?

Please keep this in mind!

Here's something to think about: How come you never see a headline like 'Psychic Wins Lottery'? Jay Leno

The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies. A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."
