President Steve welcomed everyone and reminded all about the December 1st Board meeting and that there's no meeting next week, Thanksgiving. He announced that our club was awarded the District Simplified Grant of $3,000 at the Danvers meeting which he and Cathy attended.  Our club project is "Pedal 2 Safety".  CONGRATULATIONS and THANK YOU to all who worked on the grant!!

Grace announced that the GSE team had been chosen and that an employee of Peggy Lyons, Christopher Kimball, was one of the four chosen.  He had produced the RYLA video for Rotary.

 *****************************

President Steve emphasized that every member has to sign up for at least one of the Taste Committees.  All members are technically members of every committee, but you need to sign onto committees for logistics' purposes.  Send an e-mail to President Steve -- you should reply to his recent e-mail.

    *****************************

Mike Tallo handed out the Taste Raffle tickets.  If you were not at today's meeting, contact Mike to get your allotment so you can begin selling them at Thanksgiving.  (You can always get pre-orders and money if you can't get the tickets from Mike in advance.)

*****************************

Steve Smith handed out our club's revamped brochure.  Be sure to get some from him and distibute them throughout the city.

 *****************************

The next Board meeting will be on Monday, December 1st, 5:00PM, at GraVoc Associates.

 *****************************

Our guest speaker was Carmine Nigro from the FBI.  He spoke about Business Economic Espionage.  He talked about how to document why you think your company is being targeted.  Some of the areas that are at risk are Pharmaceutical, Biological, Energry and weapons related.  He said that there is no area that is safe from company secrets being stolen.  He recomended a book, "Stickey Fingers", by Steven Fink.  The concensus was that Carnmine was very interesting.

   *****************************

Mel Babner reminds everyone to sell the Entertainment Books.  So far 92 have been sold.

*****************************

President Steve reminded the club that in order to have a successful Taste of the North Shore, it will take a lot of work by all members of Peabody Rotary.  With 100% approval to go forward, he announced that we will go on with the Taste.  The following subcommittees (and chairs) were named:  Ticket Sales and records (Mike Tallo); Restaurants (Cathy Gravel)--7 have already signed up; Ad Book (Peggy Pedro); Auctions/Raffles (Scott Bronstein); Publicity (Steve Smith).  Contact the committee chair on whose committee you want to work.  But a reminder--we're all members of every committee.  But choose one on which you'll work a bit harder.  Mel has already sold some raffle tickets!!

Reminders:

What do you do with your empty bottles and cans?  (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.)  Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel.  Every nickel helps!!  Mel Thanks Mike Tallo for his generous contributions.

******************************

Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.

 ******************************

Happy Dollars:  Sergeant-at-arms Jeff Doherty collected $74.

Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club.  We can use the money!!  But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.

    ******************************

50-50 Raffle: The pool was $181 Plus 1/2 of today's take.  Neither Mike Tallo's nameless guest nor President Steve picked the KING OF CLUBS or the $50 Joker.

*****************************************************

A man in Phoenix calls his son in New York the day before Thanksgiving and says, "I hate to ruin your day, but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.

"Pop, what are you talking about?" the son screams.

"We can't stand the sight of each other any longer", the father says. "We're sick of each other, and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Chicago and tell her."

Frantic, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. "Like heck they're getting divorced," she shouts, "I'll take care of this,"

She calls Phoenix immediately, and screams at her father, "You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?" and hangs up.

The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. "Okay!" he says, "they're coming for Thanksgiving and paying their own way."
