President Steve ran the meeting.
He reminded everyone the "TASTE" is comming up fast. Please make every effort to sell your tickets. Also ads are available in our ad book.
Steve reminded everyone that Joanne and Nicole are in charge of the raffles and auction items. If you have either get them to either Nicole or Joanne.
Cathy reported that we have 19 confirmed Restaurants. Many email, letters and faxes were sent out and now follow up phone calls will take place.
Steve Smith proposes Tom Bent, Marketing Manager at Salem Five.
Regarding Tom Bent, Marketing Manager, Salem Five - Peabody
…"if anyone has objection to Tom's membership in the club please detail your reason in writing and submit it to the Board of Directors within seven days".

Grace reminded us that we need to find a new Host family for our exchange student from Colombia, Martin. Apparently, the State Department says that exchange students must stay at more than one family during their time in the US. The Host family does not necessarily have to be a Rotarian family, so ask your friends and neighbors. Cathy Gravel is also looking for members to help by inviting Martin to join them on the weekends. Anyone who helps--whether as a host family or as an hour sponsor--must be CORI'd--all members of the family who are at least 18 years old.

Our District Simplified Grant project is targeted to take place on Saturday, April 25th. It will be a Bike Safety Day. We'll be giving out 250 bike helmets and Guard-a-kid will be preparing identification kits and CD's for all children. There also will be bike safety training. Be sure to save the date. This is a club service project so all Rotarians need to paticipate. Cathy asked for members to sign up to be part of the committee. To date Peg Lyons, Grace and Steve Morad have volunteered.
**********************************************
Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of
interest to the club.
*************************************************
Steve Padulsky did his classification today. Did you know Steve is a piano man. We can have be our entertainment for our next Rotary party. Also Steve and Bob attended the same college. Does anyone remember which one? Steve has had an interesting road to his current job at Baystate Financial but is enjoying it and we wish him success.
March 19,2009: Rachel Williams/Litercy Project,School in Pakistan
Please make every effort to attend your Rotary meetings. The more members we have each week, the better we look to potential members--and to our visitors and speakers.
Thank you!
Reminders:
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel. Mel wants to thank Mike Tallo who brought in cans this week. Every nickel helps!!
******************************
Happy Dollars: This week's Sergeant-at-arms Jeff collected $69.
Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club. We can use the money!! But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.
******************************
50-50 Raffle: The pool was $32.50 We are looking for the 8 of Clubs. Neither Peg Lyons nor Jeff won.
Please make every effort to attend your Rotary meetings. The more members we have each week, the better we look to potential members--and to our visitors and speakers.
