Business Meeting:

President-Elect Steve Padulsky chaired the meeting. Steve circulated a flyer for Friday Night at the Fights sponsored by the Burlington Rotary Club on March 25th at the Billerica Elks Club.

We are looking for new ideas for fellowship events.

Steve reminded us that March 26th we will be working at the Habitat for Humanity Project.  All participants need to sign a release form.

Steve also will be bringing up the concept of corporate membership at a future meeting as a way to increase membership.

Cathy asked if the Club would front $800.00 for the Peabody High School arts project.  The School has an $800.00 grant from the Collaborative but does not receive the money until the project is completed. The students need the money to purchase supplies.  The Club will be reimbursed when the grant comes it.  The Club voted to authorize the request.  The service comes full service... the art teacher requesting the funds was a Rotary Scholar winner in 1985.

Committee Reports:

Membership:  No report.

Scholarship:  Peggy Lyons reports that it is still early in the process for applications to come in, but she has received 4 so far.

Taste of the North Shore: Sell, sell, sell!  Vanessa thanked Cathy and Kathleen for their work on the ad book and raffle donations.  Bob will coordinate the auction of sports memorabilia. Everyone needs to pick up the pace for ticket sales so we can meet our goals.

Happy Dollars:  Sergeant-at-Arms Bob C, collected $50.

Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club.  We can use the money!  But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.

50-50 Raffle: No winner.

Reminders:

Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, asks that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.

Secretary Gary Epstein reminds members of Rotary's attendance requirements.  Members cannot miss more than three consecutive meetings without making up.  However, there are plenty of opportunities to make up.  Attend a Board meeting (All members are encouraged to attend, anyway), attend a committee meeting, work on the website, or the most basic make-up--attend other clubs' meetings!

What do you do with your empty bottles and cans?  Please bring them to the meetings every week to give to Mel.  Every nickel helps!

UPCOMING GUEST SPEAKERS:

March 10: Julia Goodmonson (Flooding and Disaster prevention)

March 17:  General meeting/Taste

March 24: Megan Shea classification speech

March 31:  Larry Decker new member classification speech

UPCOMING IMPORTANT DATES:

Next Board Meeting:  Thursday, March 10, 2011 immediately after the breakfast meeting.
