As President Grace is leading the District's GSE Team in Brazil, President-Elect Steve Morad ran today's meeting.  No recent e-mails from Grace.  She must be having a great time--maybe she met a guy and got married?  The next Board meeting will be on June 16th, 5:00PM, at Cathy Gravel's office.  Steve passed around a sign-up sheet for his installation dinner (and year-end celebration) to be held on FRIDAY, June 20th at Spero's Sports Pub(Allenhurst).  It will have a sports theme with plenty of entertainment.  Everyone's encouraged to wear sports theme clothing.   Cost wil be around $25 and it will begin at 6:00PM.  Steve has sent out a sign-up sheet to all with the details.  Please reply to him and make every effort to attend this special event.  June 26th is the date of the District's Installation Dinner at the Danversport Yacht Club.  Steve also sent around a sheet requesting donations (Loring will bill you) to help the victims of hte Peabody Fire on Dearborn Street.  The club will match the total.  If you haven't signed the sheet, contact Loring to do so.

*

Next week's meeting will feature our scholarship winners and our RYLA scholarship winners.  It's also a Prospective New Member meeting.  Everyone is encouraged to invite one or two others to attend this meeting.  If you're bringing someone, let Loring know by Monday so he can tell Spinelli's to have enough garlic and other food ready for us.  [Ed.'s note:  After today's meeting, a few of us were commenting that despite our very low membership numbers, we get a good percentage attending the meetings.  And we do quite a bit for the community and the Foundation.  But just imagine how much more we could do with more members in the club--or how much easier it would be to do the same!!]

*

Peggy Pedro reported that she, Peggy Lyons and Cathy Gravel served Haven From Hunger on Friday.  It seems that Fatima's gave us less food than usual and they ran out.  There were 35-40 people served on Friday and it appears that, unfortunately, the numbers will be rising.

*

President Grace asked that you send her your information and photo to be used at the June Installation Dinner.  She had e-mailed everyone a questionnaire.

*

Would you like to help Mel Babner deliver food for the Citizens For Adequate Housing families, temporarily housed in Salem?  Future delivery dates will be June 19th and July 17th.  Anyone who would like to help Mel, please contact him.

*

What do you do with your empty bottles and cans?  (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.)  Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel Babner.  Every nickel helps!!  Mel Thanks Gayle Cavanaugh, Eastern Bank and Dick Berg for their generous contributions.

*

Our speaker scheduler, Gayle Cavanaugh, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.

 *

Happy Dollars:  Sergeant-at-arms Jeff Doherty collected $50.  Some of these were "unhappy" dollars for being late.

Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club.  We can use the money!!  But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.

*

50-50 Raffle:  The pool was $74.  Neither Stever Smith nor Herb Harris picked the Queen of Spades.

1. IS IT THE TRUTH?   2. IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED?   3. WILL IT BUILD GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIP?   4. WILL IT BE BENEFICAL TO ALL CONCERNED?

 I thoroughly disapprove of duels. If a man should challenge me, I would take him kindly and forgivingly by the hand and lead him to a quiet place and kill him - Mark Twain

At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings.  Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down  as though he were ill, and she said, 'Johnny, what is the matter?'

Little Johnny responded, 'I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife.'
