President Steve was not in attendance. Past President Grace ran the meeting.
*****************************
Grace thanked everyone who attended the BAH last week.
Steve Smith proposes Tom Bent, Marketing Manager at Salem Five.
Regarding Tom Bent, Marketing Manager, Salem Five - Peabody
…"if anyone has objection to Tom's membership in the club please detail your reason in writing and submit it to the Board of Directors within seven days".
Nicole mentioned that if any one nknew a junior in High School that might be interested in RYLS to let her know. As of now there are 2 students from the high school that are interested in participating.
*****************************
Grace reminded us that we need to find a new Host family for our exchange student from Colombia, Martin. Apparently, the State Department says that exchange students must stay at more than one family during their time in the US. The Host family does not necessarily have to be a Rotarian family, so ask your friends and neighbors. Cathy Gravel is also looking for members to help by inviting Martin to join them on the weekends. Anyone who helps--whether as a host family or as an hour sponsor--must be CORI'd--all members of the family who are at least 18 years old.
*****************************
Our District Simplified Grant project is targeted to take place on Saturday, April 25th. It will be a Bike Safety Day. We'll be giving out 250 bike helmets and Guard-a-kid will be preparing identification kits and CD's for all children. There also will be bike safety training. Be sure to save the date. This is a club service project so all Rotarians need to paticipate. Cathy asked for members to sign up to be part of the committee. To date Peg Lyons, Grace and Steve Morad have voluntered.
*************************
Steve Smith announced that there was an article in the Lynn Item about the Taste.
**********************************************
Grace asked everyone if they need Taste of the North Shore tickets. When you sell tickets (and collect the money) be sure to give the stubs and payments to either Mike Tallo or Loring. The Taste is approaching fast.
Cathy reported that we have 17 confirmed Restaurants. Many email, letters nad faxes were sent out and now follow up phone calls will take place.
*******************************
Reminders:
What do you do with your empty bottles and cans? (And we know there must be a lot of empty beer cans and bottles.) Please bring them (both beer and soda) to the meetings every week to give to Mel. Every nickel helps!!
******************************
Our speaker scheduler, Grace Martins, is asking that you tell her of any people who may want to speak to the club or whom you think may be of interest to the club.
******************************
Happy Dollars: This month's Sergeant-at-arms Steve Smith collected $12.
Reminder: If you see any news articles or pictures (not Rotary related) of our members, bring them in so the member can donate $$$ to the club. We can use the money!! But more important--we'd like to recognize and applaud our members.
******************************
50-50 Raffle: The pool was $26.00 Cathy won.
*******************************
